From skills assessment to APM-accredited leadership programme
Yorkshire Water asked us to review and lift the capability of its 40-strong projects community. We started with a diagnostic, ran skills assessments, then built a six-day leadership programme accredited by the APM.

The Brief
A water-sector PM community ready for the next step
Yorkshire Water approached The Project Academy for our combined expertise in project management and the water sector. The brief was to review the capability of its 40-strong projects community and propose how to grow it.
We led with our PPM Capability Diagnostic, engaging the entire community in shaping the direction of their own development, followed by individual project skills assessments and personal development planning sessions with each professional.
Our Approach
Engage, assess, design, deliver.

The Outcome
Yorkshire Water now runs a programme of its own.
We left Yorkshire Water with a programme participants refer back to in their own development reviews. The leadership thinking is current, the design is shaped around water-sector reality, and APM accreditation gives external proof of quality.
Capability work does not end with a programme. The diagnostic and the leadership courses together gave Yorkshire Water a way of keeping that work alive.
