Tailored career pathways for the National Trust's project community.

Built on past successes at the Trust, our team designed a multi-level training programme aligned to APM professional standards, with a bespoke project sponsor framework included.

Tailored career pathways for the National Trust's project community.

The Brief

Take a strong PM community and take it further.

The National Trust appointed The Project Academy to build on past successes and lift project competency and consistency to a new level, across an organisation that runs an unusual mix of heritage, conservation and capital projects.

We started with our PPM Capability Diagnostic, engaging right across the Trust's project community to surface what people on the ground actually needed before deciding on the shape of any programme.

Our Approach

A diagnostic, then a programme built around it.

Man in white shirt and tie giving a presentation to a seated group with two flip charts and a projected screen behind him.
A smiling woman in a mustard cardigan and white collared shirt holds a water bottle and wears a conference badge, talking to another woman.

The Outcome

A programme the Trust can build on

The Trust now runs a development regime tailored to its own environment, with the reassurance that comes from APM alignment. Career pathways stretch from new project staff up to senior sponsors and heads of profession.

It is a model the Trust owns. The shape fits the organisation, and the structure can grow with it.
